Higher fatty acid methyl esters are created in the chemical process of transesterification, where vegetable oil reacts with methyl alcohol with the usage of alkali catalytic agent.
As a result pure biofuel is produced, which can be used as a biocomponent of fuel mixtures with fuel oil or as the fuel itself for diesel engine cars. Usage of biodiesel does not require engine modification, in addition it is biodegradable, while during combustion it emits lesser amounts of sulphur, carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide than traditional fuel.
Production of biofuels has even more advantages:

- It makes a state independent from the petroleum import
